Your Perfectly Unique Child

Would you just look at all these beautiful treasures!? I'm amazed at how each lovely thing I encounter in nature is uniquely its own yet so perfectly fits in with its environment. The sea must know just how to tend to each living creature.⠀

So many parents find themselves struggling after the second or third baby is born and the strategies they developed with the first baby are no longer helpful. What a gift of parenting! You will never be without something spurring you on toward your own growth.⠀

It would be easy for me to say, "do this!" or "try that!" with your second child. Instead, tune inward. When you had your first baby and didn't know what to do, how did you discover it? You've done this already. You've learned the textures and needs of a new human before, and you can do it again.⠀

It can be frustrating to feel as though you're at the starting line when you've already learned what your first child needed when they were this age. But what a rich opportunity you've been given - not only for your own growth, but for the unique opportunity to learn this second child. Your second child needs you just as much as the first did. This process of attunement is a collaborative endeavor between parent and child that builds attachment and the foundation for connection throughout life. And really, that feels pretty miraculous.⠀

Cheering you on!
